Looking for info & tips on buying a vehicle and traveling thru Australia for an extended period of time! Cost of vehicle. Gas. Parking for the night? Cooking-fridge in vehicle?! Thanks!

Hello!

Me & my boyfriend are planning to fly to Australia in a week or 2 (early- mid December) most likely into Darwin, and are looking to buy a vehicle that we can travel around the country in.  We want to use it to mainly to drive and to sleep in but if it had a little fridge or stove etc that would be awesome.   Does anyone have any recommendations or tips on how to go about doing this? Or even better, does anyone have a vehicle like this for sale?!

A few more questions off the top of my head:
How much is gas per litre?

Are there strict rules about parking for the night?

Is food expensive?

What about showers?

Car insurance / international drivers license? (we're from Canada)

We're coming from ho chi minh city, Vietnam and it looks like Darwin is the cheapest city to fly into but if anyone has any other ideas i'd love to hear them!

Thanks so very much!
Cheers!
