Hi there!
Im a first time independent traveler (besides a small backpacking trip across Norway, i have little experience with the bureaucracy of traveling)

and Im planning on traveling south America next September and i was wondering how visas work when you arent in your home country, are they easy to obtain?are they expensive? are there some south american countries you cant get into if you are in a certain other SA country? i know it may seem like such a naive question but im literally clueless on this subject so any info would be greatly apreicated! thanks! 😊 Reply to this

The first thing to do is see if you need a visa for any of the countries. This will depend on your nationality. Entrance varies if you do need a visa. For Bolivia you can get it beforehand or at the point of entry. For Brazil you need to get it beforehand and have a time frame to use it. If you are one of the nationalities which needs to pay a reciprocity fee in Chile, you pay it flying into Santiago's airport but not at any other point of entry. Perú and Argentina don't require anything for most nationalities. You just fill in a tourist card. For some countries you might need to show a yellow fever vaccination.
Your own state department/foreign office website should have most of the information you need.
Most EU nationalities are visa free. Reply to this
