Need a cheap vacation in Australia for about 4 to 5 days. Cheap accomodation and food.

Hi,

I will be going to Brisbane to meet my boyfriend. We will certainly visit Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast to meet his parents. But we would like to go some where cheap and romantic for ourselves before meeting the parents. Maybe little village or town to explore together for about 4 to 5 days. Cheap accomodation and food is our main concern.

We are thinking of Sydney but I would like some options. 😊

Thank you! ^^ Reply to this

If your boyfriend is in Brisbane, then try Bunya Mountains (north-west of Toowoomba) as they offer full homes (not just rooms) for $100.00-$120.00 per night (they go higher though). Do a Google search of "Bunya Mountain Lodge" and the first hit you get should be a site called "Chalets and Holiday Homes" - head into there and you will find a whole list of option. If you need the actual website, please send me a private message - as it is Travelblog policy not to place commercial links on the forums.

Some of the bigger homes will house four to six people - so if you share with others than it will cost each person only about $30.00 per night. The area is very beautiful and you'll even have wallabies on your front lawn in the morning!

However, you will need to be bring all of your own food (and cleaning materials if I remember correctly) and cook your own meals - there are very, very limited eating options up there (and it isn't cheap either). To save money, bring your own linen, or you can hire it up there. Also, there is no public transport to Bunya, so you will need your own vehicle.

I have lived in South East Queensland for over 30 years and this is the best value option within half a day's drive of Brisbane. There are many other places closer to the coast, but they tend to be a lot more expensive - however, there could be exceptions.
