What is the safest and cheapest way to get from Iquitos to Lima???

Hey guys!Im planning to go from Belem to Lima by boat through the Amazon.
But When we get to Iquitos,i've got a bit of a problem. In order to go to Lima from Iquitos I need to go to Pucallpa. And from Pucallpa
take a bus to Lima.I have done a bit of research and I see the Pucallpa is a dangerous place.Specially in December before christmas.(Which is the exact date we are going to be there)
it is usual that time of year that people will dress like civilians on the bus and then make a robbery and steal all the civilians money.Don't really want that to happen to us.
Is it true? That it could be pretty dangerous going on a civilian bus to Lima?Should I maybe go by plane from Lima.Or Pucallpa(is that possible?)Or take a taxi from Pucallpa to Lima?
If to go by plane, what is the cheapest airline from Iquitos.Or if possible Pucallpa? And if I take a Taxi from Pucallpa, how much would it all cost?
Would be so Awesome if somebody could give me any answers!I am leaving in exactly 22 days!!!!😊
Thanks in advance
-Pini

(The road between Tingo Maria and Pucallpa is infamous for robberies. Particularly buses are prone to suffer, as some of the robbers get on as paying passengers and then stop the bus while more robbers get on and strip the passengers of all valuables. It is much safer to use a plane from Lima. If you have to use the road, try organizing a taxi or lorry from Huanuco. Avoid travelling when there are special events in Pucallpa (or Christmastime), as the robbers are known to be more active then. And don't ever travel this road at night. Pucallpa is particularly dangerous around Christmastime. Many robberies occur during December, and police corruption is at its worst then, too.)

Air Condor is the cheapest US$106 Iquitos-Lima.The boat from Iquitos to Yurimaguas is very slow ,travelling upriver ,but from Yurimaguas you can travel ,by colectivo ,shared taxi, to Moyabamba via Tarapoto.Gorgeous country and from Moyabamba you can bus to Lima ,36hrs.I did this trip from Lima to Iquitos and it cost me around US$180 ,cheaper than 1 day trip Cusco to Machu Picchu. This doesn't include my airfare Iquitos-Lima.

Yeh Iquitos - Lima has so many cheap plane deals that its not really worth taking the boat unless you're interested in doing that for the experience in itself. It stops at lots of little villages along the way. You'd meet loads of locals and see places that very few tourists ever see. Reply to this
