Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone out there has done similar, either Broome to Perth, or, Perth to Broome,, in roughly 2 weeks. Are there tours around that cater for this kinda trip? Do you know the costs? If you do, let me know in AUS dollars.

thanks a lot! :-) Reply to this

Hi Sinead,

Haven't done that trip myself. It took us four months to crawl from Broome to Perth, sleeping in a Swagman, not a swag. Could only find 10 day tours, different operators, same itinerary, same price (around 1450 Aud). But all accommodations and meals included. Found an 8 day tour at a lower rate but there were no meals and accommodation in that one.
Hope this is of any help but there must be more people on this blog. Check out these websites if you haven't done that already:www.ozbackpackertours.com.au; www.adventuretours.com.au; www.planettours.com.au;
By the way, if you arrive in Perth early, spend some super-quality time in Fremantle; is great with the unique Cappucino Strip and maybe a day-excursion to Rottnest Island. Or go see the old prison. Plenty of hostels there. Fremantle, not the prison.
Have fun preparing your trip to the best part of OZ: WA. Reply to this

At last someone doing the best part of Australia.The East coast you may as well be in Europe but with great weather.Northern WA is the real outback.About cost,well I've done it with $10 in my pocket and I've also done it spending $1000s.Willems $1450 sounds a bit expensive to me but ,in the 100s of times I've done this journey, I have never done organised tour.It is posible to buy a bus ticket for a little more than the usual 3 or 400 and you can get off and on as often as you want.You pay for the kilometres you want to travel ,not the destination.
I'm just sorry you couldn't have seen Broome 25years ago when it was a travellers paridise.Back then if someone drove onto the beach 50 naked hippies would walk over and tell them they were doing 1000s of years worth of damage to the beach.Nowdays its like a shopping centre carpark.Also when you walked along the beach at night you could see your footprints glowing brightly for a 100 metres behind you ,I think this was caused by phosphorous ,and on a good night the waves would glow in the dark.Everone used to live in the sanddunes and hard drugs weren't tolerated by anyone.I'm feeling a little sad , as I write this ,but everywhere has to have an industry and as far as industry goes Tourism is the lesser of evils.Also there were only 4 hotels back then and 2 were posh so you would drink in the Continental ,the Conti, during the day and the Roebuck ,Roey, at night.This meant everyone partied together.Now there are 5 hotels ,2 night clubs and every bakpakers has a bar so it is posible to be the only person in the bar.
Having said all this Broome is still one of my favourite places and Cable Beach is one of the most beautiful on earth.The sunset is incredible.The colours last for hours and you can see the horizon is curved not strraight..
Enjoy my state

Hey Paul, aka Australiano,
you are so right about WA being the best part of Oz. We Dutchies travelled Australia for five and a half year in our motorhome. Spent almost a year in WA. Came back for the wildflowers, went lobster fishing, did part of the Bibbulmun track, spent long time in the south west, will be back next year november or so.
The trip Broome Perth I mentioned has ten days accommodation, breakfast, lunch and diner and all excursions, Monkey Mia (better go to Bunbury), Kalbarri, Pinnacles and so on in it. If you do the Greyhound tour one gets off the bus, must organise accommodation, book tours and so on. Might not be much cheaper in the end. Enjoy life in paradise. Where do you live now. We could catch up next year ;-) Reply to this

Probably a little late but One way car rental would get you there. There's a hefty deposit but it'll be at your pace and you'll even have your own bed! No hostels needed... Reply to this
