In need of any advice on best jobs to get just to get by in aus..

Hi i fly into Cairns in feb 2010 and will be travelling around australia with 3 of my other friends for around 10 weeks, finally flying out of Melbourne in April.

I am going to be pretty skint i think by the time i get to aus as i am going to asia for 10 weeks before hand so i will need to find work in each place I go.

Im not too sure of the route im going to take to get from Cairns to Melbourne but has anybody got any ideas of the best jobs to do that I can just do for a few weeks, get abit of money and then move on???

If the opportunity came up I would like to stay in one of the main citys for an extended period of time if I could find a job that could support me, e.g work in melbourne/sydney for 3 months then go home if i choose to.

I have lots of office experience, but I have also worked as an electrical labourer so dont mind getting my hands dirty!!!

I just dont really know what sort of jobs people can get whilst out there? Are there places that have things especially for travellers? Ive heard fruit picking is a good job to earn enough to keep you going.

The aim is to stay in aus for aslong as possible and hopefully make it a permanent move if it all goes well!

Sorry for the essay! Any help would be really appreciated!

Cheers!

Hello Ben and welcome to the Forum!

For information on what they call the Harvest Trail - this Australian government website has a lot of information. Download the attached publication, it is an excellent resource.

The most used job search tool within Australia is either CareerOne or Seek - these are better for city based employment. Reply to this
