Hi All
I am on a RTW from December 09, according to my Itenery, i will be in Rio for 2010 Carnival, the trip goes like this Rio-Sao paulo- Foz do Iguacu - Buenos Aries(Surface) then flight to Peru- Surface to Santiago
As from Rio i will be heading south i will not have chance to see Amazon from Brazil side.(30 days for rio-BuneosAries) and (26 days for Lima-machupichu-santiago)

Am i planning a unrealistic travel?

1) is it any adventure to get feel of Amazon from Peru side?
2) if above is yes then will i be able to finish visiting from Lima to Amazonas in 2-3 days and return to Lima.
3) will that 2-3 days of trip cost me a huge??

Call to all the travel Peers, Please help me with some suggestions or Ideas i shall be greatfull

And i always wanted to thank Travelblog guys.. travelblog web site is my Bible as of now.. i wonder some time how difficult it would be for me to plan this humongous travel trip without you guys.. Three Cheers.

Sorry for spell mistake i wanted to sound it as"How to Travel Amazon from Peru Side"

You can bus from Lima to Moyabamba ,around 24hrs.Stay at "Country Club" hotel,US$10.They will organise a "colectivo" ,shared taxi to Yurimaguas via Tarapoto ,around US$15 per person by 4 + kids n chickens ect or $50 to take the car alone.I did this and was able to stop for photos when I wanted ect.
From Yurimaguas you get on a local Ferry ,Eduardo Ferries are the cleanest ,safest and most comfortable, for 3days ,2nights ,up the Marañon and Amazon rivers, to Iquitos. The ferry costs around $25 for the 2nd deck or $50 for top deck.PAY THE EXTRA.You will see why as soon as you get on board. This fare includes 3 meals a day so all you need is water and snacks for the 3days and a hammock.Buy your hammock in Lima.If you wait until Yurimaguas you will pay 3times as much. The river is exactly as you'd imagine with villages of grass shacks and Indians paddling out in dugout canoes to meet the ferry.
After all the travelling and 2 nights in Hammock ,I got a nice hotel in Iquitos ,"Marañon" hotel $25 per night, and the airfare back to Lima is around $106.This was 1 of the biggest adventures of my adventure filled life and ,apart from the Marañon hotel and my airfare ,the whole 10days (you could easily do it in 5 or 6) was cheaper than a 1 day trip from Cusco to Machu Picchu ,around US$180.
Hope I've been some help and any other Qs you have please feel free to message me
