Hi, I will be travelling in peru in a few months time and will then be travelling up to quito from Lima. Does anyone know the best/ cheapest way to travel? what the prices are roughly and how easy it is to book once you get to Lima?
If anyone has any names/ numbers we could use once we are there or for the internet that would be great.

Thanks,

Hey,
Flights within South America tend to be reasonably expensive but it´s always worth checking if there are any Lima to Quito flights. I did it by bus, just got a bus from Lima to Piura. From Piura there are buses to Loja (Ecuador) that cross the Ecuador/Peru border at Macara rather than the main crossing so it cuts time off your journey. The bus will also wait for you while you deal with the formalities unlike the majority at the main crossing who merely leave you one side so you have to try and get a ride the other side. From Loja there are buses direct to Quito that take around 12-15 hours. Costs are very roughly 1-2 dollars per hour though good companies like Cruz del Sur in Peru can be quite expensive. Travel by bus is very easy to do and probably not worth buying in advance in case you change your plans or find something cheaper once you´re there. Flights you will need to book in advance especially in summer. I don´t know if there are any websites for discount flights within South America but you can definitely buy flights with LAN airways (Peru) online.
Hope that helps! Reply to this
