I need help on how to plan, finance, organize, and pull off a europe interrailing summer trip (about a month --> 40 days)
17 years ago, May 16th 2006 No: 1 Msg: #5694
I spent a semester abroad, and got very close to my friends. Now i have talked to a couple of them (my 2 best friends) and they are up for it. So my plan is an Interrailing trip for 3 guys (ages 18, 18, and 17).
We can all manage to independantly make enough money (i did the budget out (safely) estimated and it came to about 2,300 euros ($3,680), we could probably make it by with $3,000 each)
we plan to use hostels (we stayed in a couple during our semester abroad).

What else do i need to do?

Issues with families are obviously going to be there, but i think we can manage that, but just in case, any advice on how to convince parents?

how do i plan this? do i need to? what kind of visas do we need? any advice would be good, as this is the first time i have organized independant travel for multiple people. thanks Reply to this

Hi Brian:

Start by making a list of the countries you want to see and put them in order from most important to least. Then go out and buy guidebooks for each of your top countries or regions. Good up-to-date guidebooks like Lonely Planet will give you the answers to virtually all your questions. Make sure all 3 of you read them and make lists of things you want to see and do - then see what you all have in common.

You've left it quite late to organize a trip for this summer - the better prepared you are the better the trip will go. I would recommend you get crackin' at the planning, or put off your trip till later.

Well 40 days huh not trying to be mean but make it longer then that for starts
and this is the mean part but get rid of the 17 year old alot of hostels will not let him stay .
Ok as for the money thing this is what i tell everyone you have more then you know. Im not sure where you and your other friends are from but at the age of 18,18,17 you might have cars if you do sell them then you have money.
also are you graduating from high school ?
if so tell all your family and friends not to buy you anything and just make donations for your trip even if they are all poor a few bucks here and there adds up.
as far as a plan goes for where to go figure out where u really want to go first and then the countrys you want to go next and listen to other backpackers while your there.

good luck
and your trip should be like 2 months or longer to make it real nice. Reply to this
