Bringing my laptop into Peru

Do I have to pay for bringing a laptop into the contry?

I have read this in a danish guidebook (from 2007):
"If you want to bring a laptop, a bicycle or any other equipment for outdoor activeties, you will have to pay for a guarantee-insurance. With the amount of 25% of the equipments value."

I want to bring my laptop to Peru for writing my travel-diary, handle my photos and browse the internet.
But definitely dont want to pay 25% of the laptops value.

I havent foundt any information about this elsewhere.

Have anyone experienced this situation while bringing their laptop into Peru? Or should I not worry about it? Reply to this

I travelled all through Sth America with my Laptop and never heard of this.It was covered by my normal travel insurance and noone ever tried to charge me $ for carrying it.It was well worth having as many hotels have wireless intenet.
In most of Argentina they have a different wireless system though. My Laptop suddenly stopped recieving the net when I crossed from Paraguay into Argentina.I thought there was something wrong with PC n put it into a computer shop for service.Nothing they could do worked.I was still under warranty in Australia so I figured I'd get it fixed at home.I was still able to plug computer cables in and access the net.I turned on my PC in Ushuaia and suddeny I had intenet again. After that some towns it worked others not and as soon as I crossed into Chile it worked all the time again. So long story short ,people, don't stress when your PC stops accessing net in Argentina Reply to this

There is nothing to worry about laptops. Maybe it was a regulation from several years ago when laptops were considered as a "luxurious" item, but as you know almost anyone carries notebooks and netbook. Just be careful with your notebook in the hotel and a suggestion could be hiding it inside your luggage when you go outside just for precaution.

The only thing you need to bring is a small adapter with (3 pins 2 out) usually computer have 3 pin on the plug in and peru walls most of them only have 2. Reply to this

Is it easy to find computers to access in Peru? Or internet cafes that have computers to use?

Thanks Jill Reply to this

Alot of hotels in Peru have WiFi and there are internet cafes on every corner.I travelled with my laptop last few years but left it behind this year.I don't miss it at all.If your hotel doesn't have a PC it is never more than a 2 block walk to nearest Internet cafe Reply to this
