Need advice on were to spend the last week of my Oz holiday in May

I'm flying into Sydney from the UK on May 1st, staying in Sydney for a few nights, then up to Brisbane and the whitsundays to visit family.

I'm in two minds on what to do for my last week though, a lot of poeple have recommended Melbourne saying its a fantastic city, others have said that Melbourne will be cold and windy at the end of May and say I should carry on travelling North up to Cairns, but I\'ve heard mixed reviews on Cairns!

Any advice would be very welcome !! Reply to this

There is only 1 possible answer to this question.CAIRNS !!!!!! Melbourne in May will be cold n wet while Cairns will be beach weather.I agree with the reviews you've heard about the city of Cairns ,it isn't my favourite place but when I think of Cairns I think of the whole district ,not just the city.Atherton Tablelands to the West.Tully/Mission Beach to the South.Pt Douglas/Mosman/Daintree Rainforrest to the Nth.
It will be a great last memory of Australia ,while Melbourne is just another city Reply to this

Pt Douglas is "Playground of Millionaires" so can be a bit expensive.Still has bakpakers though. Reply to this

Doesnt it dpend on what rocks your boat..whilst Melbourne is a city it has lots of heritage a couple of hours from it..eg Ballarat mining areas. Equally u could go to Adelaide and or Alice Srings or Ayers Rock..if however u like beaches then stay up north.

PS..Im a kiwi and have been to all these and Sydney and Brisbane. Reply to this
