Scams on the internet.

Whenever I mention booking something on the internet with my credit card at an internet cafe, somebody warns about key loggers. But how much of a risk is using the internet and buying things on it a security risk? Have you lost money through internet crime? If so, what happened and how much did you lose.

Do not check your mail in cyber cafes (good ones may be used), avoid if possible, they can steal your passwords easily and then misuse it.

That sounds scary! Where are good places to check our email?

Got to some good well established cafes. May be you can keep changing your passwords often. Reply to this

Hi!

See this - cafeKlysm

"cafeKlysm loads on your USB flash drive so that you can run your own web browser, email program and instant-messaging client on a shared computer. It's great when you are away from your home computer and have to rely on cyber cafes.

Just like on your own computer, you'll have fast access to your downloaded files, email addresses, messages, bookmarks and buddy lists. Your various site log-in and other passwords can come along for the trip as well, in a secure, encrypted container that only you can unlock.

With cafeKlysm, you'll use public computers on your travels with greater confidence because you leave no trace of your surfing on the machine, and you dramatically reduce the risk of anyone stealing your log-in details. You'll also be able to eject the USB drive safely and dependably each time, even if that drive is shown as "locked" by Windows."

It's free to download. Reply to this

I tend to use portable Firefox, downloaded from http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable and loaded onto my USB drive. It reduces the risk of personal information being left behind on a shared PC. Nothing's foolproof though, so just keep changing your passwords and use common sense when choosing a cafe, as Capt says. Anyway, do not worry to much, HAVE A NICE HOLIDAY. With one doesn't reach anywhere. It was only a precaution. I think one can live from some time without e-mails.

HAVE FUN !!! Reply to this
