Which is better for a May honeymoon, Costa Rica or Nova Scotia? Help!

Which is better for a May honeymoon, Costa Rica or Nova Scotia. I know they're completely different from one another, but they're both places that appeal to my fiancee and me. I've traveled out of the country on several occasions, but she's never set foot out of the United States. I'm also concerned about the weather? Could that be a determining factor in our travel plans? Too much rain in Costa Rica? Too cool in Nova Scotia? I basically need something to sway in one direction or the other. Any information about either place would be greatly appreciated. Reply to this

Nova Scotia in May is generally nice, however the last few years they have had some freak rain/snow storms, so keep that in mind. They are always a possibility on the East Coast.

Costa Rica will have some rain, but in May it is generally at night. If you have any during the day it will be about an hour of downpour that will last about an hour, normally at dinnertime. The beaches and water on the Pacific side (around Liberia) are the cheapest all inclusive area to go to, if you hit the Caribbean side you will see a bit more rain, about a 2% chance of a hurricane, and it is more expensive as they are 5* resorts and the flights are classified as "specialty" flights.

Anything Caribbean has the threat of storms starting late May, although Belize and Honduras are decently priced, white sand beaches, excellent diving and snorkelling. Honduras has all inclusives in Roatan and La Cieba, and Belize for the most part doesnt offer all inclusives. Any you find tend to be "almost" all inclusive (not usually including drinks and room service/snacks) and are overpriced. The food in Belize is cheap and tasty, so it really is a great place to go with a regular, non-all inclusive hotel.

Hope this helps! Any questions, just ask! Reply to this

Costa RIca is great. I am currently there and its nice and sunny. Last year I was there in May and it rained everyday but it was just for a couple of hours a day at the beach. In San Jose, it rains a lot more and its really ugly when it rains. Reply to this

Hello, I have visited both countries and Costa Rica by far in my opinion is the best choice. It does not rain so much in May, generally. If so only couple hours in late afternoon.

Please feel free to read my specialty travel blog on Costa Rica which tells about the weather patterns in each region and many many more tips on saving money and time, etc. I welcome questions so please check me out. for questions click no comments (should say comment- I need to fix it) Have a great trip! Listen Costa Rica is really a waste of time, far too expensive and you won't find what you want. Now if your advantageous do this:

1. go to Panama City, from Albrook airport get a flight for Puerto Obaldia about $60usd. From there you take a panga/canoe/about $7.usd to Capurguna. It's beautiful there, and you'll really enjoy yourself. When you get off the dock with immigration, there's a hotel on the left: there you can rent a room or a hammock. You can get a vistors stamp on your passport and take a canoe to Turbo, Colombia. Stay at the Hotel Altemirante.....or right across from the docks there are places to stay. Colombia is safe/a lot safer than Costa Rica and nicer.

2. if you want romantic, go to Cartagena, Colombia. It's beautiful, and safer than Costa Rica with alot more to do. Reply to this
