Finally a website that allows me to directly contact local people for Brazil specific cultural activities in Rio. I just wanted to share Step Up Travel Classifieds, Brazil with others because I rented a great apartment , found a reliable and qualified Portuguese teacher, and took some amazing Samba dance lessons.

When I travel I want to learn cultural talents and engage in activities that are most meaningful to local people. In Brazil some examples are language(Portuguese), Samba dancing,
Brazilian rhythms (such as Bossa Nova, Samba, and Latin Jazz).
Step Up Travel has listings for all of these activities and more. My fiance and I took dance lessons from Michel, cooking lessons(Brazilian Feijoada!) from Mara, and my fiance played Capoeira. We basically planned our entire trip using Step Up Travel.

My friend and I founded the website, have used it for our personal travels, and after thoroughly experiencing what it has to offer, I now recommend it to all other travelers looking for more authentic experiences in Rio. Some of the other posting that I look forward to contacting are for Sports and Recreation (Sailing, Scuba, Fishing, and Hang Gliding) . I really believe this website represents a new way to travel and connect with local people. I particularly like the mission of the site which is to empower local people while providing a great variety of options for travelers looking for immersion in Brazilian culture. The Brazilian people are warm and from those that I have met through Step Up Travel, they represent their country and culture exceedingly well.

Just wanted to share the recommendation. Are there other website that I may be able to use to find local people for more such activities? I would like to find a fute-vol teacher...does anyone know how I could find someone to teach me this Brazilian sport?
Thanks,
