Experiences with mountain climbing in South America.
Hi to all of you.
I am really passionate about about South America. I travelled a lot through Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia and these countries are just great.
On my last bus journey I met a guy who did some mountain climbing on vulcanoes in Ecuador. I looked for some tours on the web. The tours and pictures of www.suedamerikatours.de sounded very interesting. i think i would have great fun doing some mountain climbin although i think that vulcanoes or mountains at a height of 5000-6000m can be really exhausting.
Did anyone of you make any experiences?
or would someone like to join a mountaineering tour?
bye,
Annita
Reply to this Hi Annita,
We did quite a lot of climbing during our year in South America. MOst of the time we climbed independently but in some cases we had to take a tour or it was the best option. Ecuador is a great place for climbing - prices are good and most climbs are very accessible. I'd recommend climbing perhaps Volcan Corazon, Imbabura or Fuya Fuya as a warm up (there all between 4000m and 5000m) - you could even do these on your own - before signing up with an agency for the 5000+ ones.
