I'm looking for a comprehensive guide to get me through free weekends in ecuador, whats the best guide?
Reply to this yeh same i'm flying out to ecuador in jan 09, so any advice would be really appreciated?
Reply to this Not a very original comment but the Ecuador Lonely Planet will cover pretty much all you might need. Found it a lot more helpful and accurate than any other guide although bear in mind it's a couple of years old now.
Reply to this Thanks, lonely planet is coming out with a new guide august 09, its available for pre-order, which wont do me any good for my travels before hand! I guess I should just hope nothing has changed in three years?
Reply to this I went to Ecuador this summer with my 2006 copy and some prices had changed. The basic info's always going to be the same though. Just assume prices might have gone up. Enjoy!
Reply to this Not sure how much time you have but as far as weekends go one each in Quito and Cuenca. Mindo's lovely. If you want somewhere just to relax I'd definitely recommend Vilcabamba. If you have time do the Quilotoa loop and the northern beaches are within reasonably easy reach of Quito. Have fun - it's an amazing country,
