Hi.
Me and my boyfriend are leaving for South America to travel for 4 months. We are mostly going to be using buses but we realise that to see what we want in the time frame, we will need to fly to some destinations.
I have looked on the internet and the flights are too expensive. I have read some other formums and people are saying buy flights in S.A. Is this because it can be cheaper?
Any information would be great!
Thanks
Reply to this Flights are expensive in SA even when you buy them there. There's not as much competition on routes as in, say, Europe, so it's easier for airlines to keep them high. In some countries airlines offer lower prices for locals (e.g. with Aerolineas Argentinas I think locals pay 1/3 what foreigners pay) but for non locals it can be expensive. In our experience, Bolivia had the cheapest flights, Argentina, Chile and Colombia were all much more expensive.
Reply to this I'm hoping to go to South America next year. Have been researching how to get cheap flights - it's all in
here if you're interested.
There are some passes that you can get that cut the price - worth looking into.
