MardiGra at Rio ,Feb.2009

Firsttime travel to Rio. during MardiGra and possibly stay at hostels.I have about 3-4 weeks, young senior travelling solo.

Any information on Amazone visit from Rio. will be appreciated esp. minimum days, cost, pre-arrange from here or from Rio. etc. I also want to know few must places to visit and mode of transportation.I'll be arriving from Detroit,Mich.USA. Any other inf. is appreciated.

Hello, It's called "Carnaval" in Brazil. If you want to visit Rio during that time of year I would suggest you make your reservations now. It will be harder the longer you wait. Hotels may already be fully booked. You could try a youth Hostel or a private apartment in Rio.

Maybe someone who has already been to the Rio Carnival can help me.....
I am doing a round the world travelling trip, I a going Souteast Asia, Oz, New Zealand then Argentina and Brazil but I wont arrive into Brazil til around Feb/March. My dilemma is do I cut my previous destinations short for the sake of making it in time for Carnival or if I dont get to Brazil in time for carnival will I be missing a great deal?
