im in buenos aires right now and am thinking about making my way to rio (through igazu falls) by bus. but then id like to fly to santiago from there
just curious;
-is it best to buy from a travel agent in rio?
-how much approximately should i expect to pay?
-any recommendations of airlines i should look at?
thanx
Reply to this Are you from the USA? You would have to pay the reciprocity fee entering Chile at the international airport in Santiago. US$131. It would really add to the cost of a flight. Europeans don't pay (exception Albania). Some other nationalities have a lower fee, whatever they charge Chileans for a visa. Canadians pay. Most don't have to pay anything.
Reply to this omg....
that is fuct.
im canadian by the way....i guess that rip-charge still applies.... (i hate how regular folk always have to pay the price because some useless politician fuctards had an argument at some point)
is there somewhere else i can land without getting ripped off? maybe mendoza in argentina? (then bus it to santiago?)
Reply to this For Canadians it is US$132 I think. You can land at other airports in Chile or cross by land without paying. You would have to watch the weather at the Mendoza to Santiago crossing, as the route can get closed by snow in the winter. But if it is open it is a great route as far as scenery is concerned. Don't use it if you have time constraints on either side of the Andes as closure is unpredictable.
