Hello Jessica 😊

When I was in Ecuador and Peru the buses went frequently and were not expensive at all. They were also safe and easy. I used to just go to the bus station and buy a ticket for the next one going to where I wanted to go. I never had to wait for long. I dont think there is any need to fly unless you are short of time or not particularly interested in traveling through a certain area.

Cost - very cheap - as a rule of thumb, it's about 1 dollar per hour of travel by bus.

Frequency - depends where you want to go, but generally there will be multiple trips per day between cities and to popular sites.

Safety - in some countries you're better off paying more for a better class of bus. Generally it seems quite safe to me. In the wet season, in Bolivia for example, you might want to fly to certain places rather than take a bad bus on a bad road!

Easy to do - very easy. Reply to this

Bus system here in Bolivia is pretty good and the buses are comfortable i take a regular from Potosi where i live to La Paz at night, i prefer the drive to flying in the rainy season which is coming up around November as some airports have huge delays in the rainy season. Safety is not an issue in fact i have experienced Bolivia as one of the safest countries in SA of course you need to be savvy and not fall for the usual tourist thievery. Bus terminal in Potosi has a multitude of buses leaving for various areas and drivers are pretty good.
