Yesterday voodoo wasn't enough. Spain has been superior. Hope they'll manage to get their hands on the cup this time Reply to this

Only just Marco - I hate the penalties - but it's the least worst system in this situation.

Russia are looking very interesting this year as well - could they beat Spain?, Turkey not strong enough to beat Germany. Reply to this

Tell me about it Ali. 2006 world cup final apart, we probably have the worst record on earth on penalty shoot-out (well, England and Holland are pretty bad too in this field). But this time Spain had deserved to win on the pitch, they had clearly overplayed us. Now I only hope they haven't eliminated us just to lose against Germany in the final. If Russia or Turkey win, instead... well, that's not too bad either :-)

It will be interesting to see what happens in your neighbourhood after the Germany Turkey match!

All was peaceful but certainly not quiet last night.

...the game as a barometer to gauge just how integrated Germany's Turkish population has become. Indeed, alongside the Turkish flag in many of the windows and on many of the cars, a German one is also flying. .....

That's nice to know - apparently some of the Turkish squad are more comfortable speaking German than Turkish!

Yeah, some of the Turkish people here went to school here. Foreigners like their parents and ones like me are struggling with speaking German while our kids are at least bilingual at 3 years old. There are so many Turkish people living in my neighbourhood that I hoped that Turkish would be my daughters 4th language. Unfortunately when any non Turkish kid is present the Turkish kids switch to speaking German. Reply to this
