Can anyone recommend a good place to stay in Rio de Janeiro?

Hi,
Looking for a good place to stay in Rio ( $50-$80 per night) in August for a week. Any recommendations? Also any advice on the best area would be appreciated.

Hi Rob.. we rented a very nice apartment a while back in Rio for 115. reais a night, ($71.USD a night) from this place...

We read about them on a few other travel websites and called them. We were very pleased with the apartment and they were a lot of help in answering our questions because the owner is an American and he actually lives in Rio. Reply to this
