what clothes to bring for july-sept?

ive been looking at and reading some of the blog here and couldnt help but notice many people are wearing gloves and scarves and hats etc...

and here i thought i just need to bring shorts and t shirts, and 2 pairs of long pants, hoodie, and rain jacket.

the furthest south i will probably go is buenos aires, but u never know i guess!

July and August are the coldest winter months. It really depends on where you are going and what you consider cold. What's cold to a Canadian is arctic to someone from a warm climate. I would probably add a fleece jacket to your list. Gloves, scarves and hats are easily bought if you need them. If you are heading to any sort of altitude, then you need to take them. Even in the Atacama desert it gets really cold once the sun goes down. Reply to this

If you're in the mountains it can be cold in the evenings at any time of year. I wouldn't pack too much however as you can easily buy extra golves, socks, hats, etc in the local markets, for very cheap prices, especially in Bolivia, Peru & Ecuador. Reply to this
