im looking for a recommendation of a city or town in brazil (located in the south) which would give me a good taste of the culture, nitelife, and architecture of typical Brazil.
as much as i would love to go to rio, its really far out of the way in which i want to go (ill be going southwest afterwards), so i think ill save it for another time.
i land in buenos aires, and after a week or so i am thinking about taking a ferry to montevideo for a few days, afterwhich point i will go to brazil.
i was thinking Porto Alegre.
suggestions?
thanx 😊
Reply to this My favourite is Florianópolis. Although there is winter there now and not that warm, and I am not so sure that it would be worth the distance if it is only for a few days.
Reply to this It depends how much time you have. Iguassu Falls(in portuguese Foz do Iguaçú). You can get a good idea about Brazil. Foz do Iguaçú has a excellent night life, good options of shopping, friendly people and is not expensive. If you have more time other suggestion is visit cities in Rio Grande do Sul state where they produces wines. I am sure you will like it.

Reply to this Florianopolis is a great option!. I would like to recommend the area of Santa Catarina, Praia do Rosa, is one of the best places in Brazil! Its about 80 Km from 'Floripa' (Florianapolis). If you are going to Floripa the best months are mainly during the summer months October to March.
Floripa is a great place to surf. Heaps of strongs waves.
