enjoying a nice meal
Hello all

I found the best steak of my life but not in Argentina as expected but in Uruguay. It was only me and seb in Uruguay as dan decided to head to BA early. Got on an overnight bus to the capital-Montevideo, but then straight away got on a bus to the colonial town os Colonia del Sacremento.

Got there allrite and we had a hostel in mind, got into a taxi who ripped us off but it was still under a pound, they have a different payment system, on the meter it counts tarrifs, but we thought it was the amount in peso´s- so an argument with the taxi driver was a bit inevitable. Anyway got to the hostel and decided to get a map and do the walking tour around the colonial part of the town. Got to the first of 13 places to see when the heavens opened and we dived into a museum to get out of the weather. The museum was part of six different ones where you pay a single fee to see all six. Possibly the worst museums i have ever been to (such a waste of the 20p ticket

shame about the weather
price!). Weather didnt improve that day so we chilled in the hostel and watched some TV, bumped into a guy who we have met in Brazil and Argentina and now Uruguay, sound bloke, made plans to meet in BA when we get there. That night seb and I went out for a meal turned out to be steak and wine, this isnt the steak i have been raving about, also discoverd I am not a huge fan of Tannat either. That night did a bit of socilising in the hostel and went to a casino and lost the grand total of $10. After a game of poker i went to bed.

Weather didnt improve much but we managed to complete the walking tour, town is very beautiful, also has fantastic beaches but we didnt get to appreciate them due to the rain. Chilled for the rest of the day. Got up the next morning and caught the bus back to Montevideo. Quite alot of people dont like the city, but we rated it. Got to a great hostel and decided to explore the city. Forgot to take my camera out, which is crap as there was some nice kodak

moments. Decided to stop for a beer in one of the many parks dotted around the city when it started to rain again, and the one beer soon turned into eight. I had read about this steak in a restaurant which was highly recomended. It certainly did not disapoint. Unbeleivable, it was litarally a cube of fillet cooked so well that it melted in your mouth. I know Vegaterians wont get it but words cant describe. (If you ever find yourself in Montevideo go to el Fogan and ask for the Fogon lomo). That was the end of the night as i realised i didnt have enough money to go out. Next day the rain was unbelievable, and it took us an hour to find a bank that excepted seb´s debit card so we got a bit wet. We had planned to see more of the city and take some photos but because to the rain that was impossible. Went to the bus station and booked an overnight bus to BA to meet back up with dan and a couple of guys we met in Rio- rich and mark.

lots of love peter

Spelling/what happened to the vegetarian?
Finaly - I think you need to think about your spelling? I won't continue as would much prefer blogs with mistakes that no blogs!! Now what about those years you were in sympathy with the lot of animals - think carefully dear son what that cow had to go through to provide you with that steak - I hope it was worth it? Personally would prefer to hear about your veg and fruit eating! How about an email? My Love Mumxxxxx

Man U!
Haven't read the latest blog yet but photos from before are spectacular. I hope you heard about the 7-1 victory against Roma last night, it was a pleasure to watch :-) I watched the end of the first leg (2-1 loss) in a pub with Jo whilst hearing about his travel plans among many other discussions, was really nice to catch up! Anyway I'll never forget us jumping around the living room in 1999, let's hope we'll get to the final again and then who knows?....keep up the blogs Pete. Lots of Love C xxx
