Hello to Everyone. The Galapagos Islands are 1000km from the Ecuadorian mainland and are otherworldly! We explored new lava (100 years old) on Santiago Island

this formation happens when the crust cools on the outside and the hot lava forms a tunnel inside as it slides through. Dave slid through, but on very sharp lava rocks! ow, ow!

This marine iguana snacks at the local fish cleaning station in Puerta Ayora on Santa Cruz Island. Their main food is algae under the sea.

seriously! Iguana´s cross the road to get to the otherside! Where the sea is.

Yup! that´s right! Helping the species live on.

There are a few different sub species of lava lizards. The females have the red necks or faces.

After the tortoises are 5 years old they are released into the wild to survive. We visited the reserve land where they are living on their own. This dude is probably only about 50 years old. They live until 150? 200? No one really knows.

seemed like a great idea at the time.....until the heat melted us. It wasn´t pretty.

My oh My............them there are some big turtles.........looks like you 2 are having a blast, cant wait to see you again just to hear the stories, Stay in the boat, there's sharks in them there waters!

Yes, there are sharks in the water. Unfortunately we missed seeing the hammerhead sharks. Darn! Would have loved to have snorkled with them. Perhaps another time! T

Thanks for the tour and commentary, wow!! I have a few questions? Did Dave have to chew his leg off to get out of the Lava hole like that guy in the movie? And Crannie, you are suspiciously not in any pictures...was there was some kind Island DNA exchange and you've become a new subspecies and are actually in one of the pics? And the tortoise photo, was that, like, monkey loving? LOL
