Our Arrival We arrived into Bogota International Airport from Orlando Florida at 10pm. At immigration we were asked our occupations and address we were staying in Bogota. 90 days was stamped in our passport. (Note - to board the plane in the USA we were asked for proof of our return flight from Colombia). After immigration is the baggage claim and there was a casa de cambio where you could change money but no ATM's. Next is customs and again we were asked for our address in Bogota. Once through customs we were met by unofficial taxi drivers. We needed an ATM so went upstairs to departures where there were 4 ATM's in a row. Once we had some peso's we went back down to arrivals. 29 mai 2012 : Lever à 6h00, petit déjeuner puis douche. Dernière promenade à Cuzco. Nous quittons l'hôtel à 9h00 direction l'aéroport. L'enregistrement au comptoir se fait à 9h30 sans problème pour Lima puis Bogota. Nous arrivons finalement à Bogota à 20h20 à l'heure prévue. Nous prenons un taxi pour rejoindre notre hôtel (Ibis) ce qui nous coûte 27 000 pesos. Enfin une journée sans problème avec des horaires respectés. Nous avons simplement passé plus de temps dans les aéroports que dans les avions. 30 mai 2012 : Nous nous levons à 8h00 et après la douche et le petit déjeuner, nous récupérons notre taxi de la veille à qui nous avions demandé de venir nous chercher. Geo: 4.60987, -74.082In Latin America, it would seem that every city & town has at least one central square/plaza, and there is at least one church overlooking all of those squares. These houses of worship certainly don't rival the great churches of Europe and after weeks of travel in South America, there was a 'sameness' to them that saw us zipping through a number of them. It was somewhat surprising then that the primary reason we were visiting Bogota was to see yet another church. Granted, DH has had something of a colorful past that may require many more church visits to completely cleanse (her mud massage with the two dudes in Cartegna probably requires a dedicated confessional visit and a few "Hail Marys" all on its own!!), but the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá near Bogota ... read more

Thursday 20th February (Odyssey Day 104) Since the drive today was long, we left camp at 0700. So we got to see the dawn this morning, even if the sunrise itself was out of sight behind the clouds. I had the front seat today, which means I fell asleep along the front bench as soon as we got out of town. I hadn’t even realised I was tired! We stopped and started quite a lot as there seemed to be a lot of areas of roadwork along the way. But at least the road is a properly paved one. Depuis mon dernier article, il s'est passé bien des choses... Premièrement, j'ai eu droit à la visite de mon amoureux pour le temps des fêtes, et il vient malheureusement tout juste de partir hier. Depuis mon dernier article, nous sommes passes du Costa Rica au Panama, puis a la Colombie. Depuis mon dernier article, nous sommes aussi passés de l'année 2013 a 2014. Beaucoup de changements en deux petites semaines, beaucoup de routes, beaucoup d'amour, de rencontres, de beaux moments et quelques moments un peu frustrants. A l'arrivée de Phil, le 20 décembre, jetais encore dans ma famille, nous avons fait une fête pour son arrivée qui coïncidait avec son anniversaire (le 19).
