Hello again everyone.

Last time we wrote we were in Buenos Aires and about to go to a football match. It was amazing and very different to home, we saw Argentinos juniors ( the team where Maradonna apparently first started) vs Boca Juniors. Before the actual match was the junior team match and the fans had already started to arrive to put up the banners. By kick off it was packed with both sides having bands, banners, flags even umbrellas! They only stopped singing at half time and even when Boca lost 3-2 they were still going on.
We also managed to fit in a tango lesson the next day, it was really fun though difficult but we did ok considering everyone else in the class had been doing it for about a month!
There was so much dancing going on everywhere and even when we went to this little bar in the evening there were couples getting up to dance, not really like home.

We both thought Buenos Aires was amazing, everyone was so freindly and helpful. We obviously looked so lost with our heads buried in the guide book that some school girl came up to us to offer help.

From Buenos Aires we flew to Santiago, we just about made our flight after a few problems getting taxis and were then 4 hours early for the next one! We flew up to Calama near the Atacama desert as we didn´t fancy two 24hr bus trips! From Calama we went to San pedro da Atacama were we arrived late to find a sheep tied up in a field outside our room!
We went on a few tours, to the Salt flats, the Moon Valley and the Taito Geysers. We saw flamingos, llamas and lots of desert! There were a few early starts however, to see the geysers at there best we had to leave at 4am, which for two non morning people was a definite struggle. We met a couple of really nice Irish girls though who made the bumpy journeys more fun. In San pedro we also went on a tour at night to look at the stars which was really good but really cold! It was -8c in the mornings and at night.

After packing that all in to 3 days we had a 24hr bus ride back to Santiago to look forward to, it was ok but dont think we´d do one every day of the week.
Since then we´ve looked around Santiago which has an amazing back drop of the Andes and also been to look around Valparaiso and Vina del mar. Valparasio was a lot more run down than we expected but Vina del mar was pretty.

Were just preparing ourselves for the 18 hr flight to sydney now and also looking forward to warmer weather!

lots of love
Vicky and David
