Bonjour People,

We feel we have seen the main attractions in Rio now, so we are generally just chilling for the next 5 days before we start on the next big trip around the USA. So today we had another relaxing morning at the hostel. I started putting some notes together for my interview, we casually looked at houses for sale in Southampton, Neil’s been in contact with people from work too and we watched a few Grimm episodes throughout the morning too. We had that amazing salad for lunch again too.

About 3pm we decided to walk to the Copacabana shopping streets but we got a bit lost because there are huge hills dotted over the city, which limits your access around streets. So whilst trying to walk around this one hill we ended up at the huge Rodrigo de Freitas Lake. It’s a great place for walking, running, biking, families, pedelos and much more. We were glad we stumbled across it. We finally made it to the shopping street we were aiming for but it was 2 hours later and our feet were hurting, so we caught the metro back to the hostel about 5.30pm.

In the evening we cooked a cheap pasta meal in the hostel, drank Caipirinha in the hostel then headed out to Lapa to experience the night life there. We went about 9pm, caught the metro there which was easy, then were met by many bars with samba type music. You can buy large canned beer on the street for £1 and walk around with it, so we did that many times walking past many bars. It was good to see but we didn’t stay past 11 as we wanted to make sure we could get the metro back before it closed for the night.

Love V&N xxx
