Salar de Uyuni

Zachod slonca na pustyniThere is no other way like 13 hours bus ride if you want to get to Uyuni from La Paz.
It wouldn´t be even so bad if there was a pavement to Uyuni.
Last 5 hours was horrible, jumpy and nobody was able to sleep.
We arrived to Uyuni at 8am very tired and shocked as the temperature was about zero degrees.
Uyuni is located in the middle of nowhere in 3675m above see level.
The main reason tourists go there is Salar de Uyuni - the biggest salt lake in the world and one of Bolivian´s most extraordinary attraction.
We booked the tour with another Australians tourists. For the comfort of having English speaking guide and more than basic accomodation we paid a little bit more than is was commonly offeres by hundrets of agencies, but is was worth.
From Uyuni we went by our 4W jeep to Colchani - village where the local people make their living on salt extraction.
Then we crossed the Salar to Fish Island known for its giant cactus and incredable views of Salt LAke.
We had the lunch there and I tried llama steak though for the last 2 months I

Nasze autko.. barely was eating meat. It was gooood.
For the night we stayed at Coquesa, a smal town where the time stopped at the base of extinct volcano Tunupa.
Next day we went south and visited extraordinary caves discovered in 1995 by two locals. Caves are very well preserved, by heat and lava.
This place is not very well known and it is run by one of the discoverer´ s daughter.
This one is far more amazing and extraordinary that I have ever seen.
It is almost shame there is no scientific explanation or research done at this place.
Any scientists interested???
On day 2 and 3 we had a chance to see few lagoons - habitat to the pink flamingoes.
I have learned that they are born complitely white. while flamingoes age they become pink due to food they eat - red algie.
Blue lagoons contain arsenic - very toxic so we fount there no life.
We were also walking around and between geysers of the Morning sun. It is only one place in the world - in Bolivia- where you can walk so close to the geysers.

Siedzac na zrodle wody... steam, altitude over 5000 m above see level and temperature around zero degrees make your breathing very difficult.
Landscape on the desert, special around Dali Valley can be mistaken with NASA pictures from the MArs.
At some point I had thought that Americans didn´t sent their cosmic probe to the Mars. They sent it a bit closer, to Bolivian´s desert (Dali Valley) and sold us the biggest scam ever that they have pictures from the Mars!!
Shame on you guys!!
Overnight we stayed in the very odd separeted hotel near flamingoes lagoon.
It was so cold when we got there but those in charge were doing their best to make us feel warmer special that there was only 4 of us.
I felt like a Snow Queen in the ice castle.
they were using generators for energy but at some point there was no energy.
Instead they put the candles and fireplace on. They set the table for 4 of us plus guide and driver and we had fantastic dinner.
At the end of the desert they gave us...hot bottle water to warm our beds.
It is our grandma´s discovery but surely someone should receive the

Nie byl az tak bardzo ciezki.. Nobel Price for it.
So here I was: Snow Queen in the cold bed with hot water bottle.
Does the King went on the trip to the warmer lands, or what?!!!!
Nie ma innej drogi jak 13 godzinna przejazdzka autobusem, jesli chcesz sie dostac z La Paz do Uyuni.
Nie byloby to nawet tak zle gdyby do Uyuni prowadzila asfaltowa droga. Ostatnie 5 godzin jazdy bylo strasznie wyboiste i nikt nie mogl spac..
Dojechalismy do Uyuni okolo 8 rano i wszyscy bylismy zszokowani bo temperatura siegala ledwo zera stopni.
Uyuni jest polozone w srodku niczego...(na koncu swiata) na wysokosci 3675 m npm.
Glowna przyczyna dlaczego turysci sciagaja tak licznie do Uyuni jest Salar de Uyuni, najwieksze na swiecie wyschniete jezioro solne, i najwieksza boliwijska atrakcja.
Wykupilismy wycieczke z inna australijska para. Za komfort angielskiego przewodnika i zakwaterowana troche lepszego niz baaaardzo podstawowe musielismy nieco doplacic, ale bylo warto.
Z Uyuni pojechalismy naszym 4w jeepem do wioseczki Colchani - gdzie ludzie zyja z wydobywania soli.
Pozniej przekroczylismy jezioro solne do Rybiej wyspy, gdzie mielismy okazje ogladac gigantyczne kaktusy.
Zjedlismy tam lunch, nie moglam sie powstrzymac by nie sprobowac miesa z lamy, pomimo iz nie jadlam miesa ponad
2 miesiace (nie liczac malej chudej swinki morskiej .-) Smakowalo baaardzo dobrze.
Na noc zatrzymalismy sie w wiosce Coquesa, tam gdzie czas sie zatrzymal, u podnoza wymarlego wulkanu Tunupa.
Nastepnego dnia udalismy sie na poludnie, zaliczajac po drodze niesamowite jaskinie odkryte przez tubylcow w 95 roku. Sa ta jaskinie wypelnione zastyglymi i zwapnialymi algami. Miejsce nie jest za bardzo znane i szkoda ze nie zostalo bardziej opublikowane i zbadane przez naukowcow.
Ktos zainteresowany?!
W drugim i trzecim dniu mielismy okazje zobaczyc kilka lagun, - miejsca pobytu flamingow. Dowiedzialam sie ze flamingi rodza sie zupelnie biale, a rozowy kolor przybieraja z wiekiem i jest to zwiazane z czerwonymi algami, ktore sa ich glownym pozywieniem.
Niebieskie laguny zawieraly toksyczny arsenik, wiec nie bylo tam zadnego zycia..
Lazilismy tez pomiedzy blotnymi wrzacymi jeziorami na wysokosci ponad 5000 m npm. Siarkowe podmuchy, wysokosc i temp powietrza okolo zera utrudnialy bardzo oddychanie i kazdy krok sprawial trudnosc.
Jest to jedynie chyba na swiecie miejsce gdzie mozna podejsc tak blisko gejzerow i wrzacych jezior. Jeden nieuwazny krok i plywasz w naprawde wysokich temperaturach.
Krajobraz w niektorych miejscach, a szczegolnie w dolinie Daliego (tak tego malarza) przypominal zdjecia NASA z Marsa.

Z oskarem, naszym przewodnikiem.. sie w sumie wydawalo e Amerykanie wcale nie wyslali sondy kosmicznej na Marsa. Wyslali blizej, na pustynie w Bolivii i sprzedali nam najwiekszy na swiecie blef, ze maja zdjecia z MArsa!!
Wstydzcie sie chlopaki!!..
Na noc zostalismy w samotnym hotelu, blisko laguny flamingow.
Bylo bardzo zimno, ale obsluga hotelu starala sie bardzo by nam umilic pobyt, szczegolnie ze bylismy jedynymi goscmi..
Uzywali generatorow na prad, ale w pewnym momencie, pradu zabraklo wiec ogrzewalismy sie cieplem z kominka i swieczkami..
Czulam sie jak Krolowa Sniegu w Lodowym zamku.
Obsluga zastawila stol i zjedlismy wspaniala kolacje (znow mieso z lamy), a pod koniec deseru chlopaki zaskoczyli nas i przyniesli...termofory do ogrzania lozek...
Termofory, dla wiadomosci, to wynalazek naszych babc, ale z pewnoscia ktos powinien za to dostac nagrode Nobla!!!
I tak oto bylam; Krolowa Sniegu w zimnym lozu z termoforkiem w nozkach.
Czy krol poszedl na poszukiwanie cieplejszych ladow, czy co?!!!
