We were picked up by our travel host in Llao Llao (pronounced chow chow or yaow yaow) late Wednesday night. We are staying in a lake viewspa resort with a beautiful view and close to the main part of town - Bariloche. Since we had a rental car, we were able to tour around the banff like area. The town itself is very picturesque with swiss style architecture. Gary was able to have fun driving a standard vehicle, while Dani navigated. The landscape is loaded with a bush called broom which is loaded with bright yellow flowers. Not good for anyone suffering from hayfever. The lupins are a favourite.
We went up a ski lift to check out the breath taking mountainous area. The lakes are a beautiful blue colour. Afer a morning of touring we head into town for some "shopping". The people are very friendly here. This would be the place to have a summer home. We dined in a restaurant that evening and were entertained by tango dancers.
The following day we went to a typìcal Argentinean "Gaucho" ranch for some serious horseback riding. The days are very long here so we were able to finish
up our ride at 9:oo pm. The owners also bbq´d dinner for us in a cabin on a hillside overlooking their 5,000 hectare piece of farmland.
Our last day here, we treated ourselves to a few spa treatments...mmmmm. What a treat.
Off to the airport again for an afternoon flight to El Calafate. We are looking forward to the glaciers.
