Some pictures from el cemetario at Recoleta...there's a popular quote that can be found in many travel guides which says that the cemetery "Is the most beautiful barrio in Buenos Aires...only all the people are dead" (or something along those lines). It really is incredible though - like a city of tombs, with incredible architecture and sculptures. It's also the final resting place of famous Argentines such as Evita, Sarmiento, Facundo, and as of today, Raul Alfonsin*

*Alfonsin was the president of Argentina from 1983-1989. He died the day before yesterday at the age of 82, and today his funeral procession passed by our house (pictures and videos in a later entry).
