These are some pictures from my first two days exploring - we went to the "feria" at Plaza Francia (an open-air artesanal market that's set up every weekend and on holidays/"feriados"), ate lunch at a cafe in downtown Recoleta, and checked out the busy area by Avenida Florida

The little shops run all around the edge of (and throughout) the park. There are also tons of little vendors selling "pan relleno" (filled bread, like a big version of an empanada), toasted nuts, and orange juice.

On nice days, the hill at the center of the feria is covered with people drinking mate, picnicking, and listening to performers...we decided to stop and hang out for a bit!

Argentines like to say that it's the "widest street in the world," but Alicia (my madre) informed me that thats almost definitely not true...
