Roman through old Passau

The tourist office directed us to the van that would take us across the river and up the mountain to Veste Oberhaus. Inside the castle walls we made our way to the excellent museum inside. We first learned a little about the Roman occupation of the area. Because of the strategic location on the three rivers it was an important Roman military base on the very edge of their empire.

We slept in an extra half hour and didn't take breakfast until 8:30. No need to explain how much I enjoyed it. There was only one other couple in the breakfast room.
