Never had the privelege My Air Force career was spent in the great states of California and Texas plus 8 years with the PA Air National Guard. In basic training I made the mistake of letting it be known that I desperately wanted to be posted overseas. Hence, I spent my time Stateside. The military way. Those AFRC facilities were so cool. I am still jealous of all those that got to use them and to experience living in Europe.
Ahhh...Oberamergau... We have spent many vacations there. Friends taught at the NATO school. I've climbed the Kofel and cross country skied the King Ludwig's Lauf. I hope you have time to swim at the Wellenbad!
And this would be the best one ever! Spoiler alert - everything was fantastic. We saw lots of things we loved for the third or tenth time and did just as many brand new experiences. Our weather was perfect all trip. My wife is already thinking about the next one.
I also avoided the Austrian autobahn to avoid paying... but the speed limits constantly change on the back roads between villages so I got caught speeding and had to pay the ticket on the spot.
Great to see you in Europe again... and buying a new BMW. I followed your travels last time and look forward to doing so again. We previously picked up a Volvo in Goteborg, and your experience with BMW is inspiring me to do the same someday.
do it! I considered the Volvo Euro delivery and checked with Audi as well. Nobody does it like BMW. Royal treatment and the car is wonderful. Now I have to endure the 6 to 8 weeks of waiting until the car hits the US.
"But for me breakfast is the least important meal of the day..." I just started Following you, and have read big chunks of your blogs and then just the lead paragraphs of others. I would estimate that 99% of your blogs start with the detailed description of what was served for breakfast. Any breakfast without eggs is inferior. Just saying that perhaps you are fanatical about breakfast! Anyway, I'm enjoying your travels and look forward to reading more...the last blog was awhile ago.
Breakfasts Coincidently my favorite European breakfasts are served in Germany and the UK. Both include eggs whereas you don't see any style eggs in French, Spanish, or Italian breakfasts. I give a slight nod to the Brits over the Germans just because they know how to serve thick, chewy bacon.
Sainte-Suzanne's mysterious signs The signs you depict are all numbered and it's my guess that they relate to the audio-guide of Sainte Suzanne, which can be hired from the museum inside the château (when it's open!).
Irish Loser If your people stopped whining and crying over the past you might actually accomplish something. The rest of the world laughs at your island of drunks and papists.
How dare you! Listen you scumbag american how dare you comment on the IRA you know fuck all about what happend in irish history what gives you the right to talk down about the brave men and women who fought and gave there lives for irish freedom.
God Bless The IRA
Your take on Prague I too really liked Prague and would love to go back. But after our pickpocketing incident at Prague Castle I will probably never convince my wife to go back. What I especially like about Prague is the way everything is so centrally located. That and the beer!
I have been in Prague for 2 weeks, I absolutely loved. I was there with my friends. During the day we went to visit what the guide told us to: ) but we had a lot of fun during the night.
I found the city beautiful, like a fairytale land, the towers, the castles, the cathedrals .
I also found the city safe as you can see in this article from the government pages, I never had a problem by being out till late or walking to the hotel alone. Life there is so cheap we can live very well there. The price of the beer make us get drunk easier: )
I also was nicely surprised by the place we slept in I’ll leave you here a very good site of Prague hotels http://www.prague-hotels.org.uk/, they are cheap and very pleasant. For your next time.
I was also very impressed by the Jewish quarter, specially the first synagogue where the names of the victims are written all over the walls. But I think the most beautiful was the Spanish synagogue. The S. Vito Cathedral is beautiful form the out side. I didn’t managed to enter, I didn’t understand why but there was a guard at the door that only let Czechs in. Although your pictures are very illustrative.
The got a nice weather there it was sunny and hot. The only problem is that there no sea air circulating but that was ok. I intend to return for sure.
Jurgen video now on YouTube We just got back from another trip with Jurgen - this time two weeks in Greece with a cruise. Our guide Jurgen remembered you guys but your video which I tried to put on my MP3 player got screwed-up so I didn't get to show him.
Anyway, go to:

if you want to hear one of his stories again. We made him tell all of his goofy stories again.
Aye Carumba You and your friends are my teacher wife's worse nightmare. Whenever we take an EF trip we wonder what the kids are doing back in their rooms. Thanks to you, now we know. And why don't you guys ever know where the heck you are? But I gotta admit, I love your videos. Very well done and funny as hell. I love the part where you guys are looking for hot chicks. Nice to know you are having a good time. We're traveling with Juergen again this summer and I can't wait to tell him about your stuff. We want to see more travelogues from you guys.
Jurgen I too took an EF Tour Trip with Jurgen. It was Feb. 23rd 2007 to March 4th. Jurgen is truly an amazing tour director, we all absolutely loved him. Also our trip visited all the same places in Italy that you went to. My Europe Trip memories can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/spinereto
My wife and I met forty years ago when we both worked for the airlines. We got out of the business when deregulation "ruined" it. Now she takes me with her students on her educational trips abroad.

We stayed at the General Walker Hotel...
it is terrible that they tore it down! The hotel had many tunnels under it.
