Motmot

My new favorite bird, I first saw the Motmot at the Akumal Monkey Sanctuary, near their cenote. I learned that the bird carves deep nests in the soft limestone of cenotes, so I was on the lookout for it at every cenote we visited. This Turquoise-Browed Motmot, one of six species of Motmots, was at Cenote Dos Ojos, swinging its tail back and forth in their characteristic pendulum motion.
