... New Zealand is known for them, but we weren't blown away - huge but chewy, they weren't like the more tender ones we normally prefer. Perhaps also a bit too simple, with garlic and white wine the only seasonings. The accompanying grilled baguette was pretty stellar, and overshadowed the mussels a bit.
