More history just a few feet below modern Athens
While we were still wandering around trying to find the Plaka, we passed this recently excavated area between a row of stores. About twenty feel below modern street level lay this graveyard. Since no signs explained what this was, it wasn't until Gail and I went on our England trip and visited York that I learned that this was the Roman method of burial. Since there are a lot of bricks laying around I am assuming this site was built by the Romans.
