Calcite building up on sunken branches

Any organic matter that falls into the water does not decay. The high level of calcite from the linestone gradually covers the material. This is the travertine that encrusts everything here, even building up ledges on the falls.

The water is a beautiful green and so clear you can see deeply into its depths and so pure you can drink it directly from the lakes. Anything that falls into the lake is slowly encrusted with the calcium lime that is highly concentrated in the waters.
