The water is a beautiful green and so clear you can see deeply into its depths and so pure you can drink it directly from the lakes. Anything that falls into the lake is slowly encrusted with the calcium lime that is highly concentrated in the waters. It is like a cave except it is the waters that come from the limestone mountains in this region.

There are falls and cascades everywhere.

I have never seen so many trout in one place as here. Everywhere we walked we saw schools of them. Fishing is not allowed.

Any organic matter that falls into the water does not decay. The high level of calcite from the linestone gradually covers the material. This is the travertine that encrusts everything here, even building up ledges on the falls.
