The big falls is 78 meters high. This translates into about 253 feet. The big or high falls is the only one that comes from a spring fed stream. All the other falls and rapids come from lake water falling over the built up travertine ledges throughout the park. Travertine is a calcite deposit that very slowly builds up from very mineral rich water.
