The Big Falls
May 13th 2005 The big falls is 78 meters high. This translates into about 253 feet. The big or high falls is the only one that comes from a spring fed stream. All the other falls and rapids come from lake water falling over the built up travertine ledges throughout the park. Travertine is a calcite deposit that very slowly builds up from very mineral rich water.
