Mountains from Kaikoura

We had a great day in Kaikoura - this is one of our favourite places on earth - pacific ocean, snow-capped mountains, beaches, cliffs, rockpools, abundant seafood, resident seal colony etc. We spent the morning walking on the cliffs and then had fresh seafood cooked by the side of the road. We started this travel blog in 2005 when we set off on a ten-month around-the-world trip with a couple of backpacks and not much else. In 2008, we emigrated to New Zealand with four suitcases and a guitar and spent the first month travelling throughout the country, from Auckland to Christchurch, via a roundabout route.
