Brackett's Toll Road

Sign marking the Old Brakett Wagon Road or Bracketts Toall Road. George A. Brackett began building Brackett Wagon Road in November of 1897, and by March of 1898, the toll road was open and spanned 10 miles up the valley to White Pass City. The road was popular with packers as it was a vast improvement over the miserable Trail of 1897. Brackett sold the road to the railroad in June of 1898 for $100,000. View from the WP&Y.
