Equestrian statue of Wiliam the Silent (William I, Prince of Orange, 1533-1584). Installed in 1845. "In front of the palace stands the equestrian Statue of William the Silent (p. xxxix), in bronze, designed by Count Nieuwerkerke (1845). To me the word "Delft" immediately brings to mind images of the famous blue and white earthenware. Royal Delft was our tour's destination.
