Peace Palace

Peace Palace (Vredespaleis). Opened in 1913 to provide a home for the Permanent Court of Arbitration, created by treaty at the 1899 Hague Peace Conference. Andrew Carnegie provided the funds for its construction. French architect Louis M. Cordonnier designed the building in in the Neo-Renaissance style.Today it houses the International Court of Justice, the Permanent Court of Arbitration, the Hague Academy of International Law, and the Peace Palace Library. To me the word "Delft" immediately brings to mind images of the famous blue and white earthenware. Royal Delft was our tour's destination.
