Wellington Arch

Wellington Arch. Also known as Constitution Arch or Green Park Arch. Hyde Park Corner. "The Green Park Arch, which was originally erected in 1846 immediately opposite Hyde Park Corner, was removed to its present site at the W. end of Constitution Hill in 1883. The Equestrian Statue of Wellington, by Wyatt, with which it was disfigured, was removed to Aldershot on that occasion.A quadriga with a figure of Peace, by Adrian Jones, was erected in the place of this statue in 1912".--Baedeker 1915. London Day 2: A Royal Day Out

Today was the day for the "Royal Day Out". This annual event is the opening of the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace to the general public while the Queen is on holiday in Scotland. Susan had put much time into planning our attending the palace "open house".
