Barlow Orrery

The clockwork planetarium was built by Thomas Henry Barlow in 1851 and exhibited at Paris International Exhibition in 1867. Washington College purchased the orrery in 1868 and it remained in use until 1995. Displayed at the university museum in the basement of Lee Chapel. IMG_1611p1

The wedding of our niece (Susan's brother's daughter) took us to Lexington, Virginia. We arrived the day before so as to have plenty of time to explore the town.
