The whole group! Carnival Elation
Ryan T, Devin, Dana, Ryan H, Greg, Mel, Megan, Jeremy, Alvie, Kristie, Laurie, Me, & Jason. We love to cruise! You can't beat the bang-for-buck and the ability to wake up every day and be some place new. 13 of us all got together and decided to take a fun 5 day cruise to Cozumel and Progreso, Mexico on Carnival's Elation. Jason and I cruised with: Greg & Mel (first time!), Laurie & Devin, Alvie & Kristie (First time!), Megan & Jeremy (First time!), Dana & Ryan H, and Ryan T.
Elation is a smaller ship compared to some of the monsters out there, but she's a fun ship nonetheless. I've been on her sisters: Sensation, Fascination, and maybe one other? We decided to cruise out of New Orleans because of the price, and also to stay an extra day afterwards. (There will be a separate entry on that later!)
The Itinerary:
10/14/13 - Board Carnival Elation
10/15/13 - At Sea
10/16/13 - Progreso, Mexico (see other entry!)
10/17/13 - Cozumel, Mexico (see other entry!)
10/18/13 - At Sea
10/19/13 - Off Ship & Enjoying the day/night in New Orleans! (see other entry!)
If you've never been on a cruise, you're missing a lot of fun! Once on
the ship, the entertainment and food is included. (Yes, you can get multiple prime ribs and lobsters, just ask!) Only your alcohol will rack up expenses. We enjoyed our days by the pool with the fun activities, and the evenings we went dancing, watched shows, karaoke, piano bar, casino, you name it! Every night you can come back to your room to find a chocolate on your pillow and a towel animal.
Highlights included Ryan H in the poolside hairy chest contest (he had no hair). His wife Dana even was selected as a judge, and despite his best attempts, he didn't win. lol! The video montage link has clips of this and also of the group's antics at live band karaoke. Several of the guys achieved a status in the Casino and also got free drinks when in the casino (a rare cruise occurrence) and wine sent to them at dinner by the pitboss.
The neat thing about cruising out of New Orleans is the length of time it takes you to reach open water. Normally, you're out in the ocean/sea/gulf within an hour, but with this area, you are still going down the river late into
the night. (For the gamblers, that means the casino doesn't open until the next day!
