Happy Birthday to Janet (sort of). If you know her well enough then you know this is NOT really her birthday, but they don’t know that on the Grand Princess. Janet’s real birthday is next week, but we are very busy that day, so we are going to celebrate it today instead. Anyway, there were balloons stuck on the wall beside our cabin door this morning, so they certainly think it is her birthday.
Last night was a bit more turbulent and the ride was still a little shaky during the morning. The weather was overcast and cloudy with it being fairly cool and windy outside. In the afternoon, the sun came out and warmed up to low 60s with a bit smoother sailing. By evening it was nice and smooth with just a gentle roll.
Today is a cruising day and after the busy day on shore in the Azores, we are just resting most of today. We lost the hour last night, but still got up in time to have breakfast in the dining room (French Toast which is Janet’s favorite) and then a little more rest before the shore excursion presentation about Le Harve. Then we

Two of our regular dinner partners did some reading before going to the buffet for a light lunch. We had to turn in our passports for the Irish immigrations people today and will not get them back until we depart Dublin in a few more days (not happy about wandering around a foreign country without the passport, but at least we made copies of them before we started the trip). Then time for more reading, stitching, and napping, and before long it was dinner time. Doesn’t sound very exciting but it was very restful.
Dinner this evening was our second Formal Dinner, so everyone was all dressed up in their fancy outfits. The meal was delicious of course - this evening was lobster tails and crab cakes. During dessert, they brought out a special cake with one candle and several of the servers sang Happy Birthday. We got a couple of pictures and will try to post them later.
There were two shows this evening and we wanted to see them both, so we did. The first was a production number by the ship dancers. They did lots of different styles of dancing and it was non-stop action. It was very impressive. The second

Two "anytime" people we saw frequently show was a second performance by the Welsh singer/pianist. She played a wide variety of songs from classical, to classics, to show tunes, rag-time, and blues, including a series of Cole Porter tunes. She also sang impersonations of various people, sounding just like Barbara Streisand, Judy Garland, Marlene Dietrich, Marilyn Monroe, Julie Andrews, Queen Elizabeth, Bette Midler, and others. It too was a great show and we enjoyed both of them.
Then it was back to the cabin, but still no internet access. Occasionally we have gotten a couple of e-mail messages in or out, but the blog entries are just waiting until we get closer to mainland Europe. Good night for now.
